Growing List of Public Safety, Business, Labor, and Community Leaders Uniting Behind Ashby’s Grassroots Campaign

Sacramento, CA – Sacramento City Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby announced today that she has received the endorsement of the Construction and General Laborers’ Local 185 in the 2016 mayor’s race. Their endorsement adds to the strong, diverse, and growing coalition that is gaining momentum behind Ashby’s campaign.

Local 185 is a construction craft union, chartered in 1929, whose members work for building contractors, general engineering contractors, and specialty sub-contractors. Construction Craft Laborers are the backbone of the construction industry and are often the first workers in and the last workers out on construction jobs.

“Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby has worked hard for our City over the past five years. Her community involvement and dedication to our city is unquestionable. Many of our members live in the Natomas area, and they have consistently had great experiences working with Angelique and interacting with the Ashby family. These are a few of the reasons why we feel that Angelique Ashby would serve well as our next mayor, and why the Laborers Local 185 has endorsed her campaign.”

“I’m honored to have earned the endorsement of the Laborer’s Local 185,” Ashby said. “Their work is critical to the success of our city, and their skilled members are – quite literally – building our city’s future.”

Ashby’s strong and growing coalition includes labor, business and key local leaders. Her endorsements include the North State Building Industry Association, the Sacramento Firefighters Local 522, the Sacramento Police Officers Association, and the majority of Sacramento’s state representatives: Senator Dr. Richard Pan and Assemblymember Jim Cooper, as well as many more key community leaders.
