SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento Councilmember Angelique Ashby announced today that she has received the endorsement of business and community leader Roger Niello – former Assemblymember, County Supervisor, and Sacramento Metro Chamber President and CEO.

Known as a strong advocate for public safety and supporting small business, Niello joins Ashby’s strong and growing bipartisan coalition that includes Public Safety Leaders, Business Leaders, Labor Unions, Sacramento Democratic Senator Richard Pan, Assemblymember Jim Cooper, and community leaders from across the city.

“Sacramento families need a Mayor who will always put Sacramento first, who knows how to manage the City, and who is 100% committed to the job of Mayor from the day she is sworn in till her last day in office,” former Assemblymember Roger Niello said. “Angelique Ashby will bring people together to fight for our city, for small businesses, for good jobs, and for Sacramento families. She is the best candidate for Mayor to always go the extra mile. I urge Republicans, Democrats, and Independents to join the bipartisan coalition of Angelique Ashby for Mayor.”

“As an Assemblymember and as a community and business leader, Roger Niello has consistently put our community first. In the Assembly, he passed key legislation to support local law enforcement, worked to heal the wounds of segregated housing in California, and paved the way for expanding public-private partnerships in California,” Ashby said. “I’m honored to have his endorsement and his support.”

Niello’s endorsement follows recent news that the Ashby campaign has virtually tied her opponent’s cash on hand. Ashby’s strong and growing coalition unites business with labor and with key local leaders. Her endorsements include the Peace Officers Research Association, the Sacramento County Probation Association, the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange, the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Metro-PAC, Sacramento Laborers Union Local 185, Teamsters Local 15, the North State Building Industry Association, the Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522, the Sacramento Police Officers Association, and the majority of Sacramento’s state representatives: Senator Dr. Richard Pan and Assemblymember Jim Cooper, as well as Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters, Retired Sacramento District Attorney Jan Scully, and many more key community leaders.
