Sacramento Metro Chamber Endorses Angelique Ashby for Mayor

Chamber’s Metro-PAC Support a Game Changer in Mayor’s Race

Rapidly Growing Bipartisan Coalition Uniting in Support of Ashby’s Bid for Mayor

SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento Councilmember Angelique Ashby announced today that she has received the endorsement of the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Political Action Committee, Metro-PAC. This game-changing endorsement shows a business community uniting in support of Ashby’s campaign to be Sacramento’s next mayor, and quickly follows her recent endorsement by the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange.

Formed in 1985, Metro-PAC is the independent Political Action Committee (PAC) for the Sacramento Metro Chamber and its nearly 1,700 member businesses. Metro-PAC amplifies the voice of the Metro Chamber’s member businesses and helps build a business-friendly climate for their growth by supporting candidates and issue campaigns that work to nurture business development and job creation.

After thoroughly reviewing the candidates’ positions, engaging in dialogue with both candidates through two forums, and reviewing their respective track records, it was clear Councilwoman Angelique Ashby is the candidate best suited to champion and support the region’s business community,” said Roy Brewer, Chair of Metro-PAC.

Councilwoman Ashby has a record of bringing the right individuals and groups together to build consensus and support among an issue or project. The Metro-PAC’s goal was to identify the candidate most committed to fostering a business friendly environment, devoted to encouraging new businesses and supporting those in existence in their endeavors to grow,” added Brewer.

We are at a critical moment in the future of our city. Will we move forward with a vision for Sacramento to succeed and prosper, or will we revert back to the failed policies of the past?” Angelique Ashby said. “Our business community is rising to the challenge – redeveloping downtown, recruiting tech companies, finding new ways to partner with our universities, and investing in the future of our city and its neighborhoods. It is critical that Sacramento elects a mayor that will rise to this challenge as well. That’s why I’m running, and why I’m thrilled to have the support of Metro-PAC and the 1,700 member businesses they represent.”

Ashby’s strong and growing coalition unites business with labor and with key local leaders. Her endorsements include the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange, Sacramento Laborers Union, Local 185, the North State Building Industry Association, the Sacramento Firefighters Local 522, the Sacramento Police Officers Association, and the majority of Sacramento’s state representatives: Senator Dr. Richard Pan and Assemblymember Jim Cooper, as well as Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters and many more key community leaders.
