Sacramento Teamsters Union Endorses Angelique Ashby for Mayor

Teamsters Union Says Ashby is the Only Candidate Who Will Always Go the Extra Mile For Sacramento

Ashby’s Bipartisan Campaign Support and Momentum Continues to Grow

SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento Councilmember Angelique Ashby announced today that she has received the endorsement of the Teamsters Local 150. Local 150 represents almost 9,000 workers in the region, including UPS drivers, Coca-Cola distribution center drivers, uniform laundry drivers, Raley’s and Save Mart distribution center workers, and the drivers of ready mix concrete who are helping build Sacramento’s new downtown arena.

Their endorsement quickly follows news that the Ashby campaign has virtually tied her opponent’s cash on hand, that she’s earned the support of the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Metro-PAC, and that her support in the labor community continues to expand. Ashby’s labor endorsements now include Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522, the Sacramento Police Officers Association, the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, Laborers Local 185, and Teamsters Local 150.

“As Mayor, Angelique Ashby will keep Sacramento moving forward. Working families need a Mayor who understands how to manage the City, who will always put Sacramento first, and who is committed to the job of Mayor from Day 1 till her last day in office.” Teamsters Local 150 Secretary-Treasurer Mario Contreras said. “Angelique Ashby is the only candidate for Mayor that we know will always go the extra mile, who will bring people together to fight for our city, for good jobs, for Sacramento families. That’s why the Teamsters Local 150 strongly supports Angelique Ashby for Sacramento Mayor.”

“From helping lay the foundation of our new downtown arena to delivering food and medicine to local stores and families, Sacramento’s union teamsters make Sacramento stronger and are helping build our city’s future,” Ashby said. “On the Sacramento City Council, and as Mayor, I will never stop working to bring people together to fight for good local jobs. I’m deeply honored to have earned the support of Sacramento’s Teamsters and to have the endorsement of Local 150.”

Ashby’s strong and growing coalition unites business with labor and with key local leaders. Her endorsements include the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Metro-PAC, the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange, Sacramento Laborers Union Local 185, the North State Building Industry Association, the Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522, the Sacramento Police Officers Association, and the majority of Sacramento’s state representatives: Senator Dr. Richard Pan and Assemblymember Jim Cooper, as well as Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters, Retired Sacramento District Attorney Jan Scully, and many more key community leaders.
